Decoding bias: Gendered language in finance internship job postings

LIWC Research Series:

Researchers evaluated the language content of job postings as a potential explanation for the gender imbalance in the finance industry. Using Receptiviti’s language analysis technology, researchers highlight the principal finding that women applicants are more likely to perceive a higher level of fit with the position and exhibit an interest in applying to internship postings when the posting is high in communal language and low in agentic language, which reflects a mismatch between the study's findings and current job posting practices.
