System 1 and System 2 Thinking
Receptiviti's Cognitive Insights make it possible to measure how people think, digest information, problem solve, and make decisions. Our algorithms understand the patterns of language that are associated with the cognitive processes that differentiate "System 1" and "System 2" thinking.
In his book, Thinking Fast and Slow, Nobel Laureate Daniel Kahneman of Princeton University wrote about the modes of the human brain that impact human judgement and behaviour:
System 1 thinking is fast, instinctive, and automatic, it occurs with almost no effort, and the person has very little control over it. System 1 thinking is incredibly influential as it influences almost all of our regular judgements and choices.
System 2 thinking is slow, conscious, more complex, and requires more mental energy. This mode of thinking is easier to identify with because we engage in System 2 thinking very consciously when we make decisions and choices, plan and strategize, and work through problems.
Understanding how people think, digest information, and make decisions has massive implications for a wide variety of use cases such as branding, marketing, sales, talent evaluation, organizational and mental health, and more. Our customers use Cognitive Insights to predict GPA from university application essays, to anticipate customer decision-making, and to identify at-risk employee groups struggling from COVID work-from-home policies.
